The Rosetta Stone

01:51 am - Cough... Hack...

Yeah, I'm getting over a nasty cold (that also keeps me up and screws with my sleep) but that coughing and hacking is from the $2200 I just shelled out for professional testing materials.

So when you are shelling out all that cash for a psychological assessment of some sort?

That's part of the reason why...

Oh, and for those that are interested?

The Hare PCL-R, the Cognistat, the DAPS, the PAI, a set of Rorschach Plates, a set of TAT Plates, and the NEO-PI-3.

Yeah, that wasn't even any of the biggies... Those really nail you cost-wise.

10:28 pm - Critical Analysis and Feminism Geeks

So has anybody else here read:

Temporarily Yours: Intimacy, Authenticity, and the Commerce of Sex by Elizabeth Bernstein, Consent: Sexual Rights and the Transformation of American Liberalism by Pamela Haag, or Sex Slaves and Discourse Masters: The Construction of Trafficking by Jo Doezema?

I've been chewing on them and wonder if anyone else has?

04:15 pm - Ha!

Today was a good mail day!

Received my signed and numbered copy of Caitlin R. Kiernan's Two Worlds and in Between: The Best of Caitlin R. Kiernan (Volume One) as well as my hardcover "Kickstarter Limited Edition" of Dennis Detwiller's Through a Glass, Darkly.

That's pretty nice - and a pretty Lovecraftian.

01:29 pm - Not so Small anymore....

The YoungMan turned 14 yesterday - among other things we gave was his first kitchen knife (a decent quality paring knife) and a copy of the 1st Edition Player's Handbook for AD&D.

He graduates 8th Grade tonight.

My boots fit him and sylvarthorne wears an pair if his old snow boots (a couple of years old now) outside in the winter to get wood for the fire. He's also taller than her, but not quite up to phoenixprime or myself.

phoenixprime and I have been together for thirteen and half years now, sylvarthorne and I have been together for four-and-half.

I'd have to check if I thought it really mattered but I think we've been Owner and property longer than my first wife (the YoungMan's mother) and I were married. We were only together for about nine years total to the best of recollection.

I don't spend a bunch of energy trying to recollect that marriage though.

I finally giot my study materials for the EPPP in the mail yesterday - the earliest I can take it is the middle of August.

A couple of people have commented about the lack of discussion or commentary here on LJ so I'll post the question - what do people want me to talk about?

Tell me and I'll see what I can do.

Thank you.

11:43 am - From Cardinal Ratzinger's The Spirit of the Liturgy

Quite a decent article on the theology of kneeling - and one that has a fair amount of utility if thinking about kneeling in a D/s or kink context as well. Found it on Fetlife and the poster was kind enough to direct me to an alternate online source.

The Theology of Kneeling

I'd love a similar article on Luke 7:38 and the washing of feet in general...
